Fall In

Last week we were in upper 90 degree weather and thanks to Tropical Depression Lee, fall has been upon us full force for the past few days sending me into a weather whiplash. I was just telling Laurie the other day that while I'm looking forward to the fall wardrobe, I still haven't even worn all my cute summer sundresses (my favorite items in my closet, hands down) and breezy tops. So if you're like me and can't bear to switch over just yet, be thankful for Tennessee falls that have a range of temperatures which allow for extra use of those cute dresses. With just the right layering - whether by a comfy cardigan (quite possibly my 2nd favorite items in my closet), patterned tights and, of course, amazing boots - you can save the Great Closet Swap of 2011 for several more weeks.

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? The patterned tights, boots and scarf take this typically summer style dress into the fall months easily.

Rock that tan just a little longer with a 3/4 length white shirt dress and some riding boots to dress the look down and keep the fall feel.

Another way to wear the white is bringing in the leather. It's cute to see a flowy, breezy dress with the leather leggings and motorcycle jacket.

I was actually really excited to see this photo because I own this French Connection (I think??)dress and really thought it would be too summery to wear, but with this blazer and knit leggings it really works!

Take the fitted sundress to the next level with an adorable mustard cardigan (squeal!!), wide belt, solid color tights and slouchy boots. It helps that the dress was in warm, fall-type colors, but more summery brights could work with a heather grey cardigan as well.

Again with the mustard and blazer! All you need is your favorite flowy tank, skinny jeans and heels.

Now I am not nearly cool (or tall) enough to pull this look off, but I know several people it would look awesome on. The extra long faux fur vest takes the spring print into fall and the skinny belt keeps your figure from being lost under all that fur!

I'm a big fan of patterned tights...especially when bare legs with that print would still keep the summer feel to the look.

In Tennessee it's not unusual to have really warm days and cool nights late into the season. Keep with the summer look during the heat of the day with a cute tank and shorts, but then add an oversized cable knit cardigan when the temps drop. Perfect for a fall bonfire, if you ask me!
