Adore Home Magazine, based out of Australia, is one of the brightest and loveliest online magazines out there. I got so excited when I learned their new issue was out today. Aussies must love color because this issue is packed full of it. I am smitten over the living room tours and a look inside Black and Spiro which I keep running across in my design browsing. Just another reason to want to go to Australia! Click around on the mag and see what you love that is bright and beautiful today!

She may be a cruel devil but she's a classy lady when it comes to fashion.
Yes, you read correctly. DISNEY'S BEST FASHION. Come on, you know I'm right. How many of you as little girls wanted desperately to dress up in the princesses' fantastic gowns? Or thought Eric's butt looked pretty good in those pants and the billowy white shirt only added to the ensemble? There's no shame in thinking that.
You have to admit, Disney did a pretty spectacular job creating a wardrobe of classy outfits for characters, both good and evil. I just discovered Hello Giggles, Zooey Deschanel's new site which is absolutely amazing. I'm still scouring through its wonderful contents. My favorite thing so far? This post on the Top Ten Best Outfits in Disney Films. I wish I had thought of this sooner, but it is pure genius. I especially like that Almie Rose pointed out just how classy and Audrey-Hepburn-esque Cruella's outfit is, how Lady Gaga and Malificent have similar tastes and how only the bad girls wear red in Disney films. Her commentary is priceless. Check it out for yourself!
The best example of green. Look around you, it's everywhere.
As May ends and June is quickly approaching, I am fascinated by the emerald stone of May. I normally am not very attracted to greens unless it is this lovely rich shade. Known for growth and rejuvenation, this color is refreshingly appropriate for the brightness of spring. Embracing the emerald green color is like a fresh breath and a little jolt of energy. Cleopatra claimed this gem as her favorite and the Ancient Romans associated the jewel with Venus, goddess of love and fertility. Toady it is one of the most precious stones and one of the most vibrant pops of color in many aspects of design.
Kitchens designed in green remind me to eat healthy!
What a lovely rejuvenating welcome home.
I imagine this in the Emerald City, with doors opening out into a field of poppies (say it like the wicked witch)
Simple ribbons in shades of vibrant green brighten a white table.
Pantone has an array of colors and these stacking dolls are an adorable ombre example.
What a great color to stave off the rain. What if everyone carried a bright green umbrella?

It's the perfect time of year to enjoy picnics outside. I love picnics but seldom ever get to do one because it seems like people just can't stop and relax long enough to really enjoy a picnic. I find it fun though to pack treats into a basket or bag and lay out on blankets until the sun sets. Pinterest has adorable picnic solutions with links back to the product's website. Take a look and click around to find your perfect picnic goods. I hope to have one sometime soon and post it here! Stay tuned for that.
Very organized picnic equipment for four makes hauling the gear easier.
Another "picnic basket" idea is to repurpose an old suitcase with fabric inside and dividers to hold utensils, with a fresh coat of cheery paint on the outside.
Containers with labels are easy to make and adorable set around the blanket. Don't forget to recycle what you can!
These are so cute for a slightly fancier picnic with the girls.
Coolers are essential when eating outdoors, especially in the summer months. This is stylish and a little retro all at the same time.
Combining a cute cloth napkin and cutlery together in a mason jar is an instant place setting-napking, utensils and drinking glass all in one. Plus, you don't have to throw anything away and can reuse later after a wash.
An easy way to transport messier food that has more of a liquid consistency is in a smaller mason jar so easy dipping is key. Layered desserts would work well in these as well. Just don't forget the lid.
Don't go to the trouble of building a bonfire, just get these little burners and some skewers and make some s'mores! I want to try a peanut butter cup rather than Hershey's bars next time!

I was very eager to see Bridesmaids and am so glad the movie did not disappoint. We laughed so hard and my friend Whitney repeated quite possibly my favorite line when I was having a bad day recently, "You're prettier than Cinderella and you smell like pine needles and your face is like sunshine..."
While I am not prettier than an animated character and hope I don't smell like pine needles because that's just weird, nor do I have a face like sunshine, whatever that means, it made me laugh nonetheless.
Design tip from this movie: Don't do your wedding this way. Please just don't.
I saw the quote again today and thought, why not make a little happy wall hanging out of this? So here you go, pretty Cinderellas, enjoy your free silly poster!

Sometimes I think it would be fabulous to go to your own little secret spot in your home. Secret passages are a little creepy and a little fun all at the same time. My friend Whitney and I used to "search" for secret passages in our home even though our parents told us they were certain there were none. We thought surely they were wrong. Then it was about discovering something secret and the thrill of the search in our imaginations. Now it would just be nice to disappear at times, unplug from the world and just go sit in a little nook, cozy and warm with a nice blanket, cup of tea and a good book. While exploring Pinterest, I have come across so many great examples of adult home hideaways, some completely hidden, some simply tucked away. I'm convinced I need one in my home one day. I might even carve out a nook in my apartment somewhere!
Great modern way to make bunks cozier.
So lovely for spring and summer with a glass of lemonade.
How mysterious and well organized.
Another beautiful bunking option.
Now THIS is a secret passage, especially with those stairs.
Best. Playroom. Ever.
If I ever had extra closet space, this is what would happen.
I love the window in this space so it's not so closed off to the world.

The McQuain's new his/hers stationary. This photo is ironic because Alison's maiden name was Ball (hence the Ball jar)
Two of my favorite people, Byron and Alison McQuain, needed some new marital stationary they could both use and enjoy. Thus, I was enlisted to design something fancy for them!
We went with a beautiful springy subtle green for the paper along with a color pallet of pale pink and dark grey. A tie and a necklace along with a Mr. & Mrs. completed the look. I also used the same fonts that I used for their wedding invitations, programs and thank you cards. It was just so "them" I couldn't do anything else!
Happy penning, Mr. & Mrs. McQuain!
Byron and Alison. Good friends.
Up close and personal.
Packaged and ready to go home with their new owners!

Place chocolate chips in raspberries
Since I've been dedicated to my Tone It Up diet, my indulgences in sweet snacks have been few lately. However, since I've been sucked into the world of Pinterest, I have discovered some fabulously simple ideas for little recipes! I can't wait to try them once I get some raspberries and freeze a banana! One suggestion I have for the popcorn to flavor it and for it not to be too dry is toss it lightly in olive oil and sprinkle some herbs on it, even if it's just a little sea salt or black pepper. Happy healthy snacking!!
Mash up a banana, mix with cocoa powder & then freeze.
Popcorn kernels in a paper bag air pop the popcorn which is much healthier!

This past Saturday I had a little tea for my mother and grandmother (and aunt who couldn't make it due to a nasty sick bug) for Mother's Day. We sent the boys away to do their own things and sat down for a red and white polka dot and stripe Kate Spade inspired tea. I got some adorable striped napkins, polka dot cupcake liners that I used for fruit and stripey straws from Sweet Lulu, which is the absolute cutest go-to for party products. I used my Moon & Star glassware, borrowed my mom's white plates and my grandmother's white teapots for place settings so that everything was either red or white. We each had different Tazo teas and our menu consisted of some red berries, Sundried Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Dip, Feta, Olive and Pimiento Scones, Red-Hot Macarons, Tone It Up cupcakes, Caprese, and Spade shaped watermelon pieces cut into shapes by my cousin Audrey, who was a huge help. We also had some lovely lavender lemonade for a cool beverage. The ladies were gifted with some Kate Spade goodies for their Mother's Day presents. After our tea, we settled down to watch Tangled and enjoy each other's company for the rest of the evening.
I'm so glad to have such beautiful and influential women in my life. Thanks for all you do, Mama & Gangie!

My "Sunny" fabric has a sister fabric called "Earthy" for sale as well on Spoonflower. I created it along with "Nezzy", "Fall Floral" and "Betty Red" for my grandmother (which I named "Nezzy" after). She used the fabrics in her basement underneath a found stained glass window that I adore. Here is the finished bench cushion and pillow using "Earthy" and "Nezzy." All the fabrics are for sale on Spoonflower as well as other Fanciful Ink fabrics.

My roommate and dear friend Holly and I have had so much fun making her wedding invitations! I love her wedding colors of grey, navy and yellow and am beyond pleased with the way her invitations turned out. This was my first experience with a pocket invitation that included not just the invitation but other cards like Directions and Accommodations, Registry, Response and an extra for the bridal party concerning the Rehearsal Dinner. I truly enjoyed making these alongside Holly. She had as much of a hand in the design as I did. The lovely Lily of Lily Glass Photography put up some pictures of the invitations on her blog that look absolutely beautiful. She's so talented! Thanks for the exposure Lily!

I got a few friends together-as many that could fit on my tiny balcony that is-last weekend for a little spring party. I have not been a very successful plant waterer, thus having dead plants. So I had given up on having pretty flowers until I saw this adorable party post on Design Sponge and decided to have my own!
We had so much fun and now have adorable little plants to keep from the party! We tried to find unconventional planters or just beautiful vases. To add some quirkiness, I selected some cute little critters in Target's toy aisles to put in the plants. A leopard, family of hedgehogs and group of penguins now live in little plants on my balcony as well as the entire cast of Beauty and the Beast, which was my terrarium creation. My friend Whitney did the same with The Little Mermaid characters.
On the menu were lettuce wraps, black bean dip, brie and of course dirt and worms!
